So many platforms have transferred to full virtual and suddenly YOU are in front of the camera. Whether you're a teacher, a salesperson, a student or even a seasoned performer, let's put YOU in the best possible light (literally) as this class aims and discusses how to present and feel confident in this virtual world!
During this live class hosted via Zoom, we'll discuss some best practices when teaching, hosting, interviewing, and auditioning in this current on-camera performing world. These skills are easily applicable for both work and personal life and should benefit class participants long after our "new normal" has returned to our "regular normal".
As a performer, Laura Voss as a diverse history on both stage and in front of the camera. The skills she developed as a host, actress, facilitator and interviewer could benefit people in many regards, but most particularly those seeking to "level up" and improve their on-camera game. Laura will provide initial pointers, functional tips and discuss "Best Practices" while whether on Zoom/Microsoft Teams or having to record a taped submission.
Class participants will be encouraged to ask questions, share and discuss topics with answers benefiting everyone.If there's interest, we will do some "role play" during class so that students can take turns along with watching someone else "take direction" with the positive improvements that follow. All ages, children under the age of 15 need a parent to join along with them.
BIO – Laura Voss
Laura Voss grew up in Green Bay, Wisconsin. She was the first 5 year Kid From Wisconsin, touring with Kids from 1989 through 1993. The following year, Laura earned the title of Miss Wisconsin 1994 and competed at the Miss America Pageant. Laura holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
Shortly after her year as Miss Wisconsin was completed, Laura relocated to New York City. She earned a work/study dance scholarship at Steps on Broadway in Manhattan and began taking classes and auditioning. Laura performed in productions of CAMELOT, ANNIE GET YOUR GUN, BRIGADOON, MAN OF LA MANCHA and others.
After working in theater for a few years, Laura started trying out for film and television roles. Her acting work led to gigs on soap operas, episodic television and film sets (TWO WEEKS NOTICE, MR. BLUE SKIES, THE NIGHT). She also worked on camera with QVC.
For the last few years, Laura has traveled the world working almost exclusively in the live corporate industrial arena, primarily for some of the world’s top automotive brands (Toyota, Lexus, Lincoln, Bentley…). She is a product presenter, product training facilitator and a narration/presenter mentor and coach.
Laura has a diverse performing background and still continues to sing and play the piano whenever possible. She absolutely credits the Kids From Wisconsin for introducing her to what it means to be a true professional – and the effort and dedication necessary to pursue your dreams.
Laura and her husband, Trevor reside in New York City with their two children, Julian and Eliza.
She is a proud member of Actors Equity Association and SAG/AFTRA.
